Dear Parents:

  ONE STOP SHOPPING IS HERE!

I am pleased to announce that we now have a local uniform company which will provide
all of your school uniform needs. Beginning with the 2008/2009 school year,
Educational Outfitters will offer you a “One Stop Shopping” Experience.
Educational Outfitters is located at 3845 East Colonial Drive (on the corner of Herndon
Avenue and Colonial) and offers three ways to order: In the store, on the phone, or on
the web. Since this location is here in Orlando, we encourage everyone to place their first
orders in the store. This also eliminates the need for a measuring day.
Uniforms will be available for purchase beginning June 1st. As an added bonus, from
July 7th – July 26th (and also the entire month of December), there is a 10% discount on
all items. Educational Outfitters also honors tax free week which is usually sometime in
August.
We are making a few changes to the uniforms, as well as adding some cold weather items.
Please review the attachments for additional information regarding your children’s
uniforms for the upcoming school year. Please note, there will be a 1-Year grace period
for new uniforms. All new uniforms will need to be in place by the 2009/2010 school
year.
Be assured that we have done everything possible to make your experience with
Educational Outfitters a pleasant one. Mr. Larry James, the owner, has gone the extra
mile to have everything in place and available for your convenience.
Thank you for your patience and support as we embark on our “One Stop Shopping”
endeavor.

Blessings,
Sr. Elizabeth & The PTO

Important Memo

To:      Parents

From:  Sr. Elizabeth

Re:      Morning Arrival and Dismissal

As always the safety of our students is my primary concern.  Therefore, the following directives will be adhered to without exception:

1.  The use of cell phones in our parking lot during drop-off and pick-up is unacceptable.  One morning recently I counted 7 parents using cell phones during morning drop-off.  This is inexcusable because the safety of our students is being jeopardized.

2.  Left hand turns on to South Orange Blossom Trail during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up are Not allowed.  Right hand turns only please, please, please!

3.  During afternoon pick-up, the first group of parents is asked to back into a parking space.  All other parents are asked to drive into a parking space.  Please be very vigilant as you pull in and out of spaces.  There have been many near misses with other vehicles and with children.

4..When you have picked up your children please go directly to your cars.  Do not remain to chat .  It is too dangerous when children are unattended.

5.  At this point in the year, ALL students should be capable of walking to their classrooms without a parent escort.

6.  Thank you for your cooperation and for your prompt attention to these matters.  Compliance is necessary for the safety of all the students at St. John Vianney Catholic School.

St. John Vianney School is a
"Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School "

Mission Statement

St. John Vianney Catholic School, a ministry of St. John Vianney parish, is a diverse community that challenges students to reach their full potential through a living faith in God.  Within an innovative environment based on mutual respect and academic excellence, we inspire and empower our students by expanding their minds, fostering social responsibility, instilling Catholic values, and nourishing the soul.

Philosophy

St. John Vianney School, inspired by the pastoral, "To Teach as Jesus Did," has as its purpose the formation of its students into creative, Christ-centered persons.  We strive to provide a Christian environment where the faith of our students can become living, conscious and active.  Our school affords the fullest and best opportunity to realize the threefold purposes of Christian education; that is, to teach doctrine, to build Christian community and to provide service to others.  Our school places a high priority on the formation of Catholic leaders who are prepared to be active, contributing citizens in a global society.

While recognizing the parents as the primary educators of their children, and in cooperation with them, we, the educators, strive to empower each child to become a fully-integrated successful human being.  This goal is accomplished by providing an education that ensures the harmonious development of each student's spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical growth.

Statement of Beliefs

1.    Each student is a unique child of God.

2.    Catholic faith and values are integrated into everyday learning and life experiences.

3.    Pastors, principals, teachers, parents, advisory organizations, and members of the parish share the responsibility for creating a healthy learning environment.

4.    An innovative environment based on mutual respect and academic excellence challenges students to reach their full potential.

5.    A safe and supportive environment fosters successful learning.

6.    Accepting cultural diversity contributes towards an appreciation of and respect for the dignity of others.

7.    Christian values of social justice and peace are integral parts of a wholesome learning environment.

8.    Ongoing evaluation and improvement of the curriculum are crucial to the development of a sound educational program.

9.    Working in active partnership with parents, who are the primary educators of their children, is essential for the development of the whole child.

10.  Developing the students’ talents promotes creativity and service and enhances their self respect.
